What is a hybrid bike?
The word "hybrid" has become a much overused term. It's the product of brands trying to market their bikes as the best and most versatile. In reality, hybrid bikes have become a category of their own, borrowing from many styles of bike and merging them to create a great bike. Hybrid bikes often boast a flat bar, a wide gearing range, a lightweight frame, and are suitable for a wide range of use cases, from trail/gravel riding to city commuting to fitness riding.
What size hybrid bike do I need?
Like any bike, sizing is NOT universal across bike brands or bike. Just because you ride a medium in one brand doesn’t mean every medium-sized bike will fit the same. Geometry varies across brands and even between models, and these design differences affect sizing. Always check the size chart for the specific bike you’re considering.
What's the difference between the Lorimer hybrid and Roebling hybrid bike?
While similar in design to its sibling the Roebling, the Lorimer sets itself apart with a more compact cockpit and wider saddle. It's ideal for our more petite riders from 4'10" - 5'7". The Roebling comes in an extended range of sizes, covering riders from 4'11"-6'4".
What is chromoly steel?
Chromoly (short for chromium-molybdenum) is a premium, lighter grade of steel prized by cyclists. It retains steel's legendary durability and shock absorption while shedding unnecessary weight—giving you a smoother, lighter, and more responsive ride. Specifically, our Roebling and Lorimer's chromoly is double-butted which means the tubing is thicker at the stress points (welds) and then tapers at the center of the tubes resulting in an even lighter bike.
Why are Brooklyn's hybrid bikes better?
It boils down to three things:
- We believe professional assembly is not a convenience, it's a necessity, that's why we include professional assembly on every bike purchase- free of charge to you.
- Our reviews speak for themselves. We stand behind our products, use premium components, and offer a lifetime warranty on frames and forks.
- Brooklyn is our playground and our testing ground. Why does that matter? Our bikes endure some of the roughest, pothole-filled streets out there—proving their durability and longevity where it counts.
